Wipro to bring out India's fastest supercomputer

Wipro to bring out India's fastest supercomputer
Bangalore: The three year efforts of Wipro in the field of supercomputers got a new feather. As Sridhar K. Chari of Livemint points out, they have pitched in to make the fastest Indian supercomputer for ISRO. The final output is expected in another three months, and currently it is being designed at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram.

The supercomputer journey for Wipro dates back to September 2007 with the launch of the launch of Wipro Supernova - a range of Supercomputers and Superstorage in India. They built it in partnership with ZRESEARCH. Supernova includes a complete range of Supercomputers with an entry level configuration delivering 1 trillion mathematical calculations per second going up to hundred thousand trillions of calculations per second and Superstorage scaling to multiple hundred Petabytes. Ashutosh Vaidya, Vice President of Wipro Personal Computing recognized the huge potential. He said, "We believe that India is geared to witness the next boom in outsourcing and emerge as the R&D centre of the world. The trend of leveraging India's skills in engineering and industrial design work along with work in animation design, simulation and modeling and bio-informatics is gaining tremendous momentum. For this, customers require access to sustainable and manageable Supercomputing and Superstorage infrastructure. Supernova is an answer to that market need."

India has the fourth fastest supercomputers in the world. The Computational Research Laboratories, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons in Pune installed a Hewlett-Packard Cluster Platform 3000 BL460c system. They integrated this system with their own innovative routing technology and achieved 117.9 TFlop/s performance. As per their website, Wipro's Supernova is said to be scalable from one Teraflop to 100s of Petaflops.

Supercomputers are used in performing complex operations and computer modelling in applications involving large data sets, such as in designing space vehicles that launch satellites or in modelling and predicting the weather. The existing supercomputer at VSSC has a speed of 70 teraflops. The centre was looking to go up to 200 teraflops. Through the introduction of Wipro's fastest supercomputer ISRO will be have smooth functioning.

2: I THINK BEHIND THE FAILURE OF ISRO SAT. LAUNCHING VEHICLE THERE MUST HAVE BEEN THE AMERICAN HAND. Two Sat. failures in a row? After the successful Moon Mission, that underlined presence of water on the moon before NASA? This clearly suggest that there should be a role of America behind this failure & India should try to avoid partnership with America. Instead, India should look towards Japan,Germany,Russia for Tech. support.

But immediately after first maiden test flight sri George Fernandez disclosed this information

Today LCA TEJAS has completed 1500 test sorties and is very close to all required mission parameters and very soon will be inducted into IAF

Yes ISRO GSLV has failed ,,but we will bounce back yes time has come good for India
We all should now join together to build a very strong and bright India
