Wipro President Sudip Nandy quits

Bangalore: Sudip Nandy, President -telecom, media and technology- at Wipro is stepping down from the company. He has decided to quit after his quarter century stint with the Wipro. He is expected to leave the company on September 30. A Wipro statement said, "He has decided to pursue interests outside Wipro. In his long career spanning 25 years, Sudip's contribution to Wipro's growth has been significant. Recently, as the chief strategy officer he played a key role in shaping our growth strategy and actively engaged with business units to define growth drivers." Those currently reporting to Nandy will now report to Girish Paranjpe, the co-CEO of the company. Earlier, Nandy had managed a workforce of 18,000 people. It's said to be the largest third party R&D outsourcing business, with a revenue of $1 billion. Nandy has also worked as the Chief Strategy Officer of Wipro responsible for setting and driving the strategic direction of Wipro Technologies globally. His responsibilities included mergers and acquisitions. In 2006 and 2007, he spearheaded the successful completion of 9 M&As and two JV transactions. This included the then largest outward acquisition by an Indian headquartered IT services company, the acquisition of Nasdaq-listed Infocrossing for $600 million.
