NEW DELHI: Taiwan-based chipset design company VIA Technologies will now be working with Indian companies on broadband technology. "Last year in collaboration with VXL we made 'thin client' affordable in India and this year we will be working on broadband technology," VIA's India head Ravi Pardhan told newsmen. "Our vision is to combine computer and television in a single device and we will enter into a tie-up with Indian companies and help them design products around that idea," he said. VIA, which provides designs for chipsets and CPUs and gets them made by third party vendors, has a unique model for tie-up with other companies. "When they agree to deploy our products we provide them free consultancy for improving their offerings," he said. In India, besides VXL, VIA also has entered into agreements with Pacenet, GDA Technologies and HCL Peripherals for new technologies and products.
