Bangalore: The only thing more gratifying than earning big bucks is spending them. And Indian restaurants today are making serious efforts at divesting guests of important modifications. While they may still be far away from the world's most outrageously expensive menus - a $320 truffle menu at Alain Ducasse, a $ 25,000 Frrozen Haute Chocolate ice-cream sundae at New York's Serendipity - sundry beginnings seem to have been made.

When it comes to striking consumption of good food, Indians are spoilt for choice. An outburst of wealth in India's major cities has spawned a gastronomic revolution--and a raft of luxe and exotic restaurants to serve it. Dropping more than a few thousand rupees for dinner is becoming increasingly common. Read on to find out where and how they do it.

Zodiac Grill, the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Mumbai

The Zodiac Grill is enthused by the exquisiteness of heavenly bodies and faith in zodiac signs. The Zodiac grill dazzles with the world's finest service. The Zodiac offers a selection of the finest Single malts, Cognac, Armagnac and other international spirits and liqueurs. The 'carte de vin' has a selection of the finest new world wines in addition, of course, to those from France, Germany and Italy.

Equipped with Cristofle gilt-edged crockery and hand-blown Reidel crystal, Zodiac Grill screams sophistication, grace and chic. Named as the "Best Continental Restaurant" by the Times of India, the lavish eatery lives up to the name with its prolific nine-course meal that includes apricot duck and New Zealand lamb chop (all nine courses for 4,950 or $111). Try the Chateaubriand ( 5000 or $112) and the beluga caviar ( 9,500 or $213), two popular a la carte items. Special occasions call for Chateau Petrus, France '94 (for over 1 lakh or $2,240). Camembert souffle and lobster with wild pepper butter to the hearty filet mignon are their all time famous menu items. End the memorable meal with their signature Kahlua mousse or the finest Snake coffee.

1: this article really doesn't help, it has deviated from the topic which should have focused more about expense rather than talking about variety of food and ambience...
