New York: Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes said on Thursday that a new social network known as Jumo intends to connect charity organizations and individuals to improve the lives of people on earth. "Somehow in 2010, despite huge advancements in technology and millions of people ready and willing to help, there is no network to connect people with the issues and organizations they care about," Hughes said. Jumo now links 3,500 good-will organizations around the globe, encompassing 200 subject areas ranging from soup kitchens to "health initiatives for Ugandan women." The firm is backed by the Omidyar Network and the Knight and Ford Foundations. "This is only the beginning," the 27-year-old said. Hughes and Mark Zuckerberg founded in 2004 the popular social network Facebook along with other fellow students at Harvard University.
