Bangalore: Extreme Networks is now offering next-generation datacenter products to enable the migration to virtualised datacenters and new infrastructure solutions that feature high scalability, performance and simplicity, reports Tech World. The Extreme BlackDiamond 8900-xl modules and Summit X480 stackable switches will address the demand for high performance and increased scale in the datacenter network driven due to the adoption of visualization and outsourcing of infrastructure to managed hosting and cloud providers. According to Tech World, as a virtualized infrastructure can enable resources to be dynamically managed and deployed, it can deliver great organizational flexibility, agility and scale. Extreme Networks says that it is important for the network technology and systems to be highly scalable, deliver powerful performance, capacity and capabilities to support large datacenter implementations. In addition to support a rapidly expanding number of virtual machines, the network should be able to support a very large number of users within a limited power and physical footprint. Jon Oltsik, Principal Network Analyst for the Enterprise Strategy Group, noted the rapid growth in the managed hosting and cloud environments and attributed this to be the reason why both Layer 2 and Layer 3 scalability becomes a major issue in the network. "Extreme Networks has answered the call as we expand our business, consolidate our datacenter and migrate to 10 Gigabit Ethernet core," said Hugh Wilkins, Senior Manager of information technology for Inmar, a national provider of retail logistics services in the U.S. "Extreme Networks met our foremost priorities for our data centre with its Summit and BlackDiamond solution families, and our network has the intelligence, flexibility and performance to manage multiple terabytes of data across our virtualised server environment."
