MS, HP to gain from IT spending

NEW DELHI: Two of the worldÂ’s largest IT companies Microsoft and HP will emerge as biggest benefactors due to the investments by Indian companies. International research firm, Forrester today said that a majority of Indian corporates view IT investment as an important medium for global competitiveness and will raise their investments. In its "India IT Spending Outlook 2006" report in which it surveyed many companies, it said more than two-third of the Indian companies said that they would increase their IT budget in 2006, while more than 25 percent were planning a significant increase in their new IT investments, the report said adding about 24 percent of the respondents said that they were expecting a moderate increase this year. Over one-third of Indian companies will increase their IT spending with Microsoft and HP this year, which will be better than any other vendor in the IT space, the report said adding about 31 percent of Indian companies will buy their computing hardware from HP, around the same number will buy their software from Microsoft.
