Bangalore: Cracking the Chinese market may not be an easy job. Indian information technology (IT) companies have reportedly ramped up efforts to win the confidence of more Chinese companies in a bid to consolidate their foothold. India exported 50 billion dollars in IT services to China in 2009 and industry analysts expect the number to exceed 100 billion dollars annually in the next five years. Currently, TCS has emerged as the largest Indian software business company servicing large Chinese State-run companies. Wipro Technologies is also following the footstep of TCS in expanding into the growing markets. Tata has a three-pronged strategy to expand its business in China. First, it aims to serve multinational customers that have expanded their business in China and need support. Second, it provides a sourcing base for servicing East Asian markets such as Japan, Korean and Taiwan. And third, it hopes to tap domestic demand for IT services and solutions. The other IT majors too took the steps to expand their presence in China.
