Himalaya Drug Co to set up Rs 165 cr R&D center

The Himalaya Drug Company proposes to establish a state-of-the-art new manufacturing unit and R&D centre for Ayurvedic medicine and formulations with an investment of Rs 165 crore at rural district of Bidadi in Bangalore.

BANGALORE: According to Karnataka Large and Medium Industries Minister, RV Deshpande, the project envisages production of various ayurvedic medicines and formulations and would provide direct employment to 320 persons. It would also engage in cutting edge research in development of new ayurvedic drugs and formulations based on the traditional Indian system of medicine, he told reporters on Tuesday. The company's proposal was among the 12 projects cleared by the high level committee (HLC) meeting chaired by Chief Minister SM Krishna on Monday.
