NEW DELHI: Influential industrial lobby Manufacturers' Association of Information Technology (MAIT) Thursday appointed HCL Infosystems vice president Rajendra Kumar as its new president. The appointment was made during MAIT's annual day functions here. The body also appointed Mukul Singhal, chairman and managing director of Lipi Data Systems, as its vice president, a statement said. "With a growing domestic market, India is today high on the agenda of international manufacturing firms. On the domestic front, the government and the industry need to work towards improving IT penetration in the country through affordable computing solutions," Kumar said. Singhal said: "If India has to emerge globally competitive, then we will have to design, develop and produce our own hardware and now is the opportune time to enter this high growth potential arena."
