Goel funds $1 M center for Internet Security

BANGALORE: Venture investor and entrepreneur Prabhu Goel has instituted a research center for Computer and Internet security at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. The department, which was instituted with a fund of $1 million, will carry out cutting-edge research in all areas of computer and internet security as well as educate and help other organizations in India about computer security related issues. The center will be inaugurated on June 3, 2003 at the department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Kanpur. Dr. Vidyasagar (Executive Vice President, Advanced Technology Center, TCS Hyderabad) will be the Chief Guest of the function. The inauguration will be followed by a workshop on the Present and Future of Computer Security in India and then a panel discussion on the same issue.
