Kolkata: Business services and technology solutions major Genpact has expanded its operations in the city by inaugurating a new facility and said it would increase its employee strength here to 5,000 by 2010. The Rajarhat centre at the newly built IT centre by the DLF group has the capacity to accommodate around 1,000 professionals, said Genpact's site leader in Kolkata Indranil Choudhury. The centre was inaugurated by state IT Minister Devesh Das. Knowledge process outsourcing services in the fields of finance and accounting, business analytics, software development, IT helpdesk support and insurance would be provided from the centre to Genpact's customers across the globe, Choudhury said. Genpact, with a workforce of 25,000 professionals in its well spread out operations in the US, Mexico, Poland, India and China, currently employs around 375 professionals in Kolkata. With the opening of the new centre, it would be increased to 1,500 by 2007 and subsequently taken to 5,000 employees in the next three to four years, he said. "With the huge talent pool available in the state, we will make Kolkata the hub for knowledge based services," Choudhury said.
