MUMBAI: Don't be surprised to spot the Taj Mahal in this city next week. Being built with pure white marble, a replica of the 17th-century monument to love in Agra is coming up at the Somaiya Medical Ground here as part of Taj India 2004, a consumer fair. Organisers are hoping that the installation will attract thousands of potential customers. To be inaugurated by the Maharashtra governor April 20 and costing around 25 million, it will be replete with a gigantic entrance, 'Sadar Darwaza', to welcome the people. "We had 400 workers working for 40 days to complete this mega project. The amount we have spent to make the replica of Taj Mahal is close to 25 million," Sagar of Gold Entertainment, which has organised this event, told IANS. Zayed Siddiqui, the proprietor of Gold Entertainment, claims: "You have to see it to believe it as it is almost ready now, and I can proudly say it is almost 80 percent close to the original Taj Mahal (in Agra)!" The consumer fair will begin April 20 and will go on till May 16. The organisers plan to recover their expenditure by charging an entry fee of 50 on weekdays and 70 on weekends.
