BHEL bags 304 MW hydropower project
1.5 billion to set up the 304 MW Maneri Bhali Electric Project Stage II in Uttaranchal.
NEW DELHI: The order envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of four vertical hydro turbines of 76 MW each with matching generators, microprocessor-based control and other auxiliaries, BHEL said.
Located in Uttarkashi District, about 150 km from Rishikesh, the Maneri Bhali powerhouse will generate electricity utilising a 247 meter water head of Bhagirathi River.
Scheduled to be completed in 38 months, the project would help to augment power supply within the state, a BHEL statement said Monday.
BHEL has already installed 25 hydro generating sets of various ratings and sizes totally 1,060 MW in Uttaranchal.
As a major manufacturer and supplier of power equipment, BHEL has so far commissioned 385 hydro generating sets totalling 16,275 MW capacities to both Indian and overseas power projects.
Of these 35 hydro sets of close to 1,409 MW have been supplied to countries like Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, New Zealand, Azerbaijan and Bhutan.
