Australia wants slice of Indian energy pie

LAOS: Australia wants a slice of the huge and growing Indian energy market.

Australian Prime Minister John Howard conveyed his country's interest, particularly in exporting liquefied natural gas to India, during talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. They spoke on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit here.

Manmohan Singh, on his part, raised the issue of problems faced by Indian software professionals in securing Australian visas and Howard promised to look into the issue.

Howard accepted an invitation to visit India "with keenness and interest", Indian officials said.
