Fined - $368 Million

A U.S. District Court awarded intellectual property and patent holding firm VirnetX more than $368.2 million, after Apple was found to have infringed patents related to the networking technology used it its FaceTime video chat service.

Seeking Alpha noted that, Apple had to pay VirnetX more than $330,000 per day until the case was settled, forcing the companies to hammer out agreements between themselves. While VirnetX originally sought $900 million from Apple in 2012, the Texas jury awarded them $368 million for the company's claim that Apple infringed on a number of their patents which VirnetX says are used in many of Apple's services.
