8 IPL Controversies That Raised Eyebrows

Harbhajan slaps Sreesanth:
It was perhaps the first controversy of the IPL. The inaugural edition of the cricketing bash will be remembered more for the 'slapgate' involving Kings XI Punjab pacer S. Sreesanth and Mumbai Indians' offie Harbhajan Singh. The video footage showed the pacer sobbing and his teammates consoling him and it became one of the long-lasting images of the opening edition. As a fallout, Singh was suspended for the remaining 11 matches.

Termination of Kochi Tuskers Kerala:
Controversies have been an active and entertaining part of the IPL. The IPL in 2011 got rid of a franchise - Kochi Tuskers Kerala - to end its turbulent one-year stint which also saw a minister quitting the union cabinet after allegations of his involvement in the side's entry into the league. The contract was terminated by the BCCI for breaching its terms of agreement. What set off the decision was the franchise's inability to furnish a new bank guarantee for 2011.
