8 Global Cities with Extreme Climate Risk

Yangon
Yangon, former capital of Myanmar is fourth vulnerable city on the list.

The cities on the ‘extreme risk’ index may witness an increase in the frequency and severity of hydrological and meteorological activities. The major  floods seen in Yangon in 2008, Bangkok 2011 and Manila 2012 resulted from these climate changes and more severe disasters might occur in the future , says the study. The study was prepared in order to identify the risks of the rising climatic change and the threat it imposes over company operations, population, investments and supply chains in about 197 countries.

Jakarta
Jakarta, an Indonesian city is placed fifth on the list with maximum risk to climatic change.

The climate in Jakarta is hot and humid. Despite being located near the equator, the city has two distinct dry and wet seasons.
