6 Phenomenal Indian Musicians

Pandit Ravi Shankar
Late Pandit Ravi Shankar is the sitar maestro, who received world fame for his skills of composition and legendary music. He travelled the world bringing together Indian music with the west with his exceptional work of art, and besides that he is an incredible composer, performer, writer and teacher, not to forget an inspiration for classical music.
It saddens many with his departure on 11th December 2012, but he has left behind treasures of memories, music and also the zest for life that he possessed.
His extremely impressive collection includes 3 sitar concertos. It includes authoring flute compositions for Jeanne Pierre Rampal, violin-sitar compositions for Yehudi Menuhin and collaborations with George Harrison and Philip Glass. Pandit Shankar has also composed music for films and ballets in Indian, Canada and U.S. He is the only Indian to perform at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, although he disliked the venue, which was held in Bethel, New York. The music composed by Pandit Shnakar is elevating and those who savor it understand it’s magic.
