The wounded soldiers who are fighting to live are sometimes too far away for the medic’s supervision – that is where the drone comes in. The applications of such machines would be countless – delivering supplies to flood stricken, earthquake ridden, storm trodden, and also all places inaccessible by road.

That's the goal of a Palo Alto startup called Matternet that wants to build a network of unmanned aerial vehicles to bring medicines and other important supplies in countries where some communities live in areas not served by usable roads.
