The places in which the soldiers get stuck are places where most soldiers would not dare to step on due to the risk to their lives. The wounded soldiers who are fighting to live are sometimes too far away for the medic’s supervision – that is where the drone comes in. The applications of such machines would be countless – delivering supplies to flood stricken, earthquake ridden, storm trodden, and also all places inaccessible by road.

That's the goal of a Palo Alto startup called Matternet that wants to build a network of unmanned aerial vehicles to bring medicines and other important supplies in countries where some communities live in areas not served by usable roads.
