In terms of revenue, Indian Oil is the largest public corporation in India and the eighty-third in the world. Out of the twenty-two refineries in India, Indian Oil regulates ten refineries. It dominates the oil production in India and also has the highest pipeline capacity in the country.

Indian Oil came into existence after ‘Indian Oil Company’ (IOCL) was formed in 1959. Later in 1964, the ‘Indian Refineries’ merged with IOCL and formed the ‘Indian Oil’. It include product like petrol, diesel, kerosene, aviation fuel, LPG, lubricants, lubricants and many more. Some of the popular brands of Indian Oil are: Xtra Premium, Xtra Mile, IndaneGas, AutoGas and Servo.

Indian Oil is considered as one of the ‘Maharatna’ status companies in India. Coal India, NTPC, ONGC, SAIL, BHEL and GAIL are the other companies that are considered as the ‘Maharatna’ companies.
