5 Indian Americans Receive Simons Fellowships

Srikanth Iyengar and Gautam Chinta

Iyengar, a math professor at Nebraska University, Lincoln and Chinta of Research Foundation at New York City College received fellowships in math. Iyengar holds an M.S and Ph.D. degree from Purdue University and B.Tech in computer science from IIT, Chennai. Iyengar who has been honoured with the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Prize in 2007also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra. The research areas of Chinta include number theory, automorphic forms and L-functions.
