Nissan Motors produced its electric car – Nissan Altra between 1998 and 2002. This was a variant of Nissan R’Nessa. The batteries were installed beneath the floor of the vehicle.

The car’s mileage was 140 miles between a 5 hour battery charging interval and a charge discharge cycle over 1000 times. But it was used as a fleet vehicle and the company made only 200 of them.
