The Hangout app has gone beyond just being an internet messenger into a single destination for all your communication needs including video chat, instant messaging, and sending SMSs, MMSs. It comes with the settings menu that features toggles using which you can turn on/off SMS and retrieve MMS and also tread of an SMS conversation thread in the Hangouts app.

The unified instant messaging and chat feature will make Hangouts similar to Apple's iMessage platform and the Windows Phone Messages app that uses one app for both SMS and instant messaging.

If you are feeling to have this feature right away, all you need is to download the mirror APK file and install it on your device like every other app. If you have any major issues, you can always uninstall it and reinstall version 1.2 from the Play Store.
