17. Raipur, Chhattisgarh

In Raipur, Chhattisgarh normal life was thrown out of gear as all modes of public transport remained off the road and shopkeepers downed their shutters in support of the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) call for shutdown to protest petrol price hike.

18. Ambala, Haryana
Petrol Price: 68.62/ltr

In Haryana, around 10,000 activists of BJP and its ally HJC courted arrest in various districts. The agitation remained largely peaceful, barring a stray incident of minor clash between protesters and police in Rohtak against the petrol price hikes.

19. Chandigarh, Punjab
Petrol Price: 69.26/ltr

As part of country-wide fill-the-jail campaign against fuel price hike, a number of BJP leaders and workers were arrest in Punjab and Haryana. Party's national vice president and former Union minister Shanta Kumar courted arrest at Jalandhar along with party's Punjab spokesman Manoranjan Kalia, 19 municipal councillors and several party workers.

Addressing the press meet held in the capital, president CJAC (The Central Joint Action Committee of Local Taxi Drivers of Gangtok), Chung Chung Bhutia  said, “since 2006 to 2010 we have been demanding the revision on the price chart to the Motor Vehicle department but our demands have remained unheard. “What we got was just 15% out of 50% what we demanded” said Bhutia and added that they have been looking for cooperation from the department, stated isikkim.com
