The interest in virtualization has seen a drastic change since it can improve IT operational efficiency.
In 2010, enterprises in India have virtualized 80 percent of their applications and even the SMBs have started to select a few applications. Analysts point out that around 1.7 million servers have been shipped for virtualization activities, resulting in 7.9 million logical servers. The entry of Microsoft has increased competition among virtualization vendors, which is again driving the cost down while feature sets increase. ESXi from VMware is available for free and Microsoft Hyper-V comes at a very nominal price.
