19. Mizoram

Percentage of houses having electricity in 2011: 84.2%  

Following close behind Jammu and Kashmir, Mizoram features at the number 19th spot with 84.2 percent houses with electricity. Mizoram is one of the states in the Seven Sister States of India. Mizoram is considered to be a mysterious state to the rest of the world as it is a land of many tribal groups.

20. Maharashtra

Capital: Mumbai (Bombay)

Population: 112,372,972

Percentage of houses having electricity in 2011: 83.9%

The second most populous state after Uttar Pradesh and the third largest state in India, Maharashtra comes in at number 20 with 83.3 percent houses having electricity. The spot in the list is indeed surprising as Maharashtra happens to be the richest state in India. This is a clear example as to what corruption and large state can do to the economic growth and progress of a state.
