15 Shortest-Tenured CEOs Ever

2 Robert Willumstad

CEO tenure: 3 months

Robert Willumstad was a Citigroup executive before he became the CEO of A.I.G. During his shockingly short tenure at the company it saw its shares drop by 97%. He was forced out once the federal government took control of the company -- which eventually accepted $182 billion in bailout funds. And it was eventually blamed for the financial crisis of 2008.

This was the second time in three years that A.I.G. ousted its leader.

1 Alan Fishman, Washington Mutual -- 17 days

CEO tenure: 17 days Sept. 8 - 26, 2008

Alan Fishman had the most bizarre CEO tenure of 17 days. Fishman took over Washington Mutual from Kerry K. Killinger, who led the company for 18 years, on September 8, 2008 and he could not even complete one month of service there at the company.

He took up the position at the time when the firm was collapsing amidst the financial crisis. In the wake of Lehman Brothers, the government asked JP Morgan to take over Washington Mutual  and Fishman was out of a job.
