6. Sendhil Mullainathan

Sendhil Mullainathan, economist at Harvard University was also included in the list of top 100 global thinkers of 2010 for bringing behavioral economics out of the ivory tower. Mullainathan's work was mostly focused on the developing world, particularly his native India. Sendhil is a rising star in behavioral economics. His work on the psychological traps of poverty may introduce a new example for joining psychology, economics and policy. He was initially by Harvard in 2004 after having spent six years at MIT, first as a junior faculty member and then as a full professor. He is also a recipient of the MacArthur Foundation 'genius grant' and conducts researches on behavioral economics, development economics and corporate finance. He is the founder of the MIT Poverty Action Lab and think-tank Ideas42.
