7. Apple Bought NeXT    

NeXT was purchased by Apple on December 20, 1996 for $429 million. With the purchase Apple brought back its former CEO into the company. The product NeXTSTEP later turned into the basis for what became Mac OS X and the famous iOS. This buy was considered to be the one which initiated Apple’s run to the most valuable company in the world.
