3. Goldfinger

Goldfinger was released in 1964 and it is based on the novel of the same name by Ian Fleming. Goldfinger was the first Bond movie to win an Academy Award. This movie in many ways set the tone for the future Bond movies. This movie used technology and gadget and also featured an extensive pre credits sequence.

Plot: The dialogue “Shocking! Positively Shocking!” was probably one of the most memorable dialogues from this movie. Sean Connery delivered yet another master piece Bond works in this movie.

In this movie Bond is assigned to observe bullion dealer Auric Goldfinger. But soon Bond realizes that there is more than what meets the eye. Bond has to find out how Goldfinger smuggles the gold. Bond realizes that he smuggles the gold by melting down and incorporating it in the bodywork of his car. Bond comes to know that Godfinger has no plans of smuggling the gold anymore and instead he plans on destroying the gold in his Fort Knox which would make the gold useless for 58 years which in turn would result in Goldfinger’s gold becoming more valuable. This step of his would upset the world’s economic equilibrium. This step of his would lead to giving the Chinese advantage resulting from the ensuing economic chaos. But in the end Bond saves the day by saving the gold in the Fort Knox and killing Goldfinger.

The movie was produced by Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman and directed by Guy Hailton who went on to direct three more Bond movies.
