10 Major Events In Infosys' History


#5 2002 – Another major decision was taken wherein co-founder Nandan Nilekani was appointed as CEO. Murthy was the chairman then. Infosys also saw its revenue reaching $ 500 million and a new back-office outsourcing services unit called Progen was set up.

#6 2006 – Murthy completed the official retirement age for which he stepped down from the post and began serving as non-executive chairman and mentor. It was 25 year of hard work, thought and commitment that gave him a relief to step back and look at his brain child in the years to come.

#7 2007 – Co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan (originally named as Senapathy Gopalakrishnan) was appointed as CEO as Nilekani step forward as the co-chairman of the company. In his former days at Infosys, Kris served in design management, and developed and supported information systems for clients in the U.S. He was then the Chief Operating Officer followed by President and Joint Managing Director before he became the CEO.
