Mindy Kaling:

Born to Indian parents, she was nicknamed after the American show called Mork and Mindy that appeared on the Nigerian Television in her time. Orginally called Vera, she was born in Cambridge in June 1979. She grew up to become a writer, director and producer, working long hours to build her passion. Today she plays a lead role in one of the American shows and is often referred to as the new queen of comedy in America.

"I'm not good at anything except writing jokes," she said. "I wasn't good at sports, I wasn't good at anything artsy, ever. I think there was a real worry for a while about what I would be good at. I was just this chubby little Indian kid who looked like a nerd … It wasn't until I was in high school that I was like, 'I guess I like writing dialogue.’” as reported by theindependant.co.uk.
