10 Greatest Tech-reads of All Time

6. Name of book: The World is Flat

Author: Thomas Friedman

Year: 2005

What it’s about: Travel, technology, and entrepreneurship all wrapped up in one book—it brings to life the notion that geographical boundaries are irrelevant in today’s world where technology and economic growth have leveled the playing field. It chronicles stories of individuals from India and China to Germany and America.

What’s great about it: This book is an interesting read for sure, and shows how anyone can seize an advantage in today’s age. It focuses on individual stories such as those about video game makers in India and such. Friedman says that from the fall of the Berlin wall to the growth and spread of the Internet as well as technology, and off-shoring, the world has truly become flat.
