Wreck of the Grosvenor, Pondoland Coast, South Africa

The Grosvenor left Madras for England in March 1782 with 150 people and reaches from India. The wreckage occurred on 4th August 1782. The attempt to salvage the lost treasures started in the early 1880s. Among the recovered stuff lie Indian coins made up of silver, Venetian Ducats and several canons. However, most of the treasure still lies under the sea.

Padmanavaswamy Temple (Vault B), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala

The excavation of the vault A of the 16th century temple in June 2011 led to the discovery of treasure worth $22 billion which include- 18ft long necklace, golden bow, golden rope, one foot tall golden statue of Lord Vishnu decorated with precious gems, golden coins, golden coconut shells among other things. The Supreme Court then ordered the postponement of the excavation of vault B till further orders. This vault is believed to hold wealth in multiple of what was found in vault A.

Alwar Fort, Alwar, Rajasthan

Mughal emperors Babur and Jehangir both resided in this fort during their respective times. It’s believed that Jehangir had hidden his treasures in the jungles of the fort while he was on the run. The remains of this treasure are believed to lie buried under the ground even now.
