Anonymous the hacktivist group got all media attention when they hacked computer security company HB Gary in 2011. This security firm was hacked by Anonymous in retaliation to Aaron Barr's investigation into unmasking their identities, at the time Barr was the CEO of HB Gary Federal
“Anonymous compromised the HBGary website and replaced it with an image explaining their motivation. In addition to the defacement, they downloaded over 60,000 emails from the company and posted them on The Pirate Bay” reports Sophos
