Sensex crosses 6900 mark at mid-session

MUMBAI: Marching towards the magical figure of 7000, the Sensex shot up and crossed 6900 to touch an all-time high of 6902.49 during midsession on the Bombay Stock Exchange today on increased buying, mainly by foreign funds.
The 30-share benchmark sensitive index opened the day on a firm note at 6863.58 against the previous close of 6849.48 and after touching a high of 6902.49, was quoted at 6896.56 around 2.30 pm.
