Yahoo Launches Yahoo Screen, A New Video App For Unique Digital Experience

“Watching video has become something people do almost as much as they check email and we think we have come up with something that is as intuitive to use as your TV”, said Stein. This explains that Yahoo is following the strategy of restricting videos that run from 3-11 minutes, and believes that viewers still prefer watching short videos on small screens and long ones on a larger monitor.

The Yahoo screen will allow viewers to enjoy videos free of cost despite them featuring various television shows and programs with its main agenda being digital advertising. However, the ads will only be shown on a browser and will not be featured on the mobile application. This will boost the company’s ad revenue, for which it has been struggling in the past. Yahoo has witnessed a 4 percent decline in the recent quarter, unlike competitor Google who has increased its ad revenue by 14 percent within the same period. This new launch of video application by Yahoo might just be a lucky move for it to make some profit from the ads.
