India's 3 'Jinxed' High-Profile Bungalows

3) Hari Niwas Palace of Kashmir

Kashmir’s Hari Niwas Palace which is now serves as an official guest house for bureaucrats has been considered as jinxed.  The palace was built by the last Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir, Hari Singh in the early 20th century. Hari Niwas earned the jinx brand when Maharaja Hari Singh moved into the palace and the fatal event of 1947 outspread which made him flee from Kashmir.

The story surrounds that, when Maharaja Hari Singh was planning to construct this sprawling palace, he was warned by many fortunetellers about the area. As the area where the palace was built, supposed to be the home of Hindu goddess Shiksha Devi. But, Maharaja did not pay any attention to the continuous warnings.

In 2008, former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad stayed into Hari Niwas and suffered serious political turmoil. When this palace was allotted to current Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, he turned down the option and preferred to live in a different accommodation due to the prolonged jinxed factor.
