Home Decorating Ideas - Interior Design
Bangalore: Not all of us want a classy leather couch or an expensive wall hanging. Who said home decoration has to be purchased? Put your creative instincts into action and make your house look stunning with inexpensive items.
Here are a few ways to help you out-
* Plants -
Adding a few indoor plants around the house not only adds freshness to the house, but also appeals the eye. They can be very useful as they are considered to purify and renew the stale indoor air by filtering out the toxins and carbon dioxide we exhale. They could be placed at the corners of the rooms or stacked or grouped together around the living room. Plants like Orchids, Peace Lily, Bromeliad etc add a lot of color and life to the house.
* Dividers -
Partitioning bigger rooms by using different screens or drapes could give a modern yet contemporary look to the house. A simple, salient and affordable way is to use an old plain drape or fabric from the attic and stick fashion beads onto them. If you have a few shells you picked up from your picnics, you can add them on to. Portable folding screens with plywood frames and inexpensive panes are useful as you can shift them according to your choice wherever you feel like.
Save the space in your bedroom by using your bookshelf as a divider. You could paint the backside of the shelf for to give it a decorative touch. These days mirrors too have become common room divider. They need not necessarily be glass; you could try out stained glass or different texture glass.
* Furniture -
Rearrange your seating by shifting the couches and give the living room a more modern look. Use loft beds to accommodate several people in small spaces.
You can also make your own center table by using four identical carved/painted objects and a glass topping.
* Shelves -
Add a few long shelves on those empty walls in the living room and bedrooms. If you are among those you have a collection of vintage bottles why not use them to deck up your apartment? Keep all the crystal collection back in the attic and get those bottles out. Display these on your shelves to personalize your house. You will be amazed how collections can be a clever focal point for a room.
A Manjit Bawa, or Anjolie Ela Menon or any artist that appeals to you will add the traditional essence on the walls.
