Being different

Not only being an engg. even being a Mechanical engg. I am so much satisfied and happy. Being a Head of EAST zone, I am connected with all Hydro projects in which our machines are in use in east zone. I am also assisting them in tunnel treatment with our machine, in which I got success and now our customers rely on us .They are also be confident that they can also do tunneling in better way with our innovative and creative solution. I am expanding horizon with our machine and tunneling new innovative treatment solution.

Goals and Ambitions

Do better and achieve better position in field of tunneling equipment technology and business in which I am working.

Being a service engg. it’s a nice to complete dream of work on TBM ( Tunnel boring Machine). It’s a complete blend of all new technologies ( Hydraulics, electrical , electronics and CAN BUS system).

My role model

My parents are my role model, they never give up in any tough situation of life.

Job profile : Responsible for Parts/Tools business in east zone of our equipments.
Responsible for Service 881984 Maintenance contract of equipment at site of East Zone.
Support our customer in tunneling like tunnel treatment, rock bolt, pipe roofing and shortcrete system.

Challenges faced in job

Today tunneling is in its next level, lots of new technology and innovative tunneling treatment has been introduced in this area. I always being update myself with all this new technology, in which Silicon also help me lot.
With all these to keep my business and work on same level is challenging for me. Which I am doing in better way and getting nice reflection from our customer. Now Customer approach toward our business has changed, they are involving us in their tunneling planning and taking advice on tunnel treatment ( Pipe roofing , fore polling , Short crete and rock bolting ).

My advice

Be honest towards your work, do job with your own hand on machine, without any shame and shy. Keep yourself updated with new technology in your equipment and industry. Always read manual of equipments. Most important do job with all safety measure. Its life threatening when you work inside the tunnel and on electrical panel of machine.

My strongest Skill

For site:
Good knowledge of hydraulics/electrical and electronics by which I trouble shoot any problem of my machines in calm way.
For parts business , proper communication with all customers and my team.

My important career decision

Join the core job as Mechanical Engg. First I joined the construction company and did work on the tunnel equipments .
Second I opted the service department of key equipment of tunnel ,drilling Jumbo manufacturer company, SANDVIK ASIA PVT LTD.

My achievement

After joining SANDVIK ,In Sikkim our customer S.E.W’s hydro project ADIT -3 having loose soil strata , which they had shifted earlier from one location to other location due to collapse of tunnel .Now second time again after advanced 35 mtr inside the tunnel collapsed and 25 mtr cavity opened at crown. It was worse time and condition of project , financially they lost crore and again they couldn’t take risk of shifting of location .
At that time they approached to me. I scrutinize all things and collect all information regarding site condition and the possible treatment. with the available resources I advised them to do PIPE ROOFING ( tunnel support system). I did it first time with our machine DT 820 with limited sources. It was successful effort. By Which I recognized in my organization and as well in other customers. After that I became HEAD of east zone within 1year of joining in SANDVIK.
Now that tunnel (ADIT -3) has advanced 560 mtr ahead .Customer gave me appreciation letter.

Making job easier

We have Matrix management , in which my proper communication and team work make my work so easy. In such organization you have to keep available yourself and approachable for every department with all required data and reports.
At the same time my calm and composed approach towards any troubleshooting of our drilling jumbos / shortcrete machines at site, keep my customer satisfied and maintain their faith on us.

Current Trends

Competition has increased , new technologies are introducing with our machines and tunneling.which will change the trend in coming years.

Family Background

Hail from patna, bihar. Belongs to small middle class with high values family. My father is government employee in Irrigation dept. and mother is home maker. I have 2 younger sisters both are married and well settled in patna.

Views about 'Tech product Introduction is weak among Indians'

Indian construction companies are lacking in new tunneling technology knowledge and how to implement in our project site conditions. For which we are coming in picture and providing them new innovative and creative tunneling solution.
Now a days Australia are making Railway/ Road tunnels below the sea and CHINA is making biggest hydro tunnel and so more.....
We have to expand our knowledge area and adopt new technology to sustain in present competition.
