Love what you do or do what you love

Love what you do or do what you love. If you are not in love with your job leave it before it is too late, because as the years pass it will become too tough to let go. Be yourself; don’t try to follow other, trust in your ability and work to make it your strengths. Be simple, honest and respectful. Control your anger and don’t speak while you are angry. Never insult or shout on your subordinate in front of your colleague but talk to them in private. Learn as much as you can; doesn’t matter how small it is, observe people to learn from them. Be down to earth no matter how fast you are progressing. Be humble to people around you. Be funny sometimes at your work place. Share your knowledge. Don’t get too personal with your colleague in office as it will not help you in long term. Let go of your college days as quick as possible because this is different world. Last but not the least follow your heart.

Upcoming Trends
The way company market their brands is changing very fast. They are moving towards internet media and that is the future I believe.  We will see more and more investment being done on this front. Company are trying to make products which they will personally use not just sell to people. That is a big plus for everyone, if I am not going to use what I make how I can sell it to other and this is what people in product development started to understand.
My view on India technical development
This is the most difficult question to answer. But for me companies in India never wanted to make a product that stands apart and dominate the world markets. Because the first thing that comes in our mind is we need to make something that caters to the mass population of India first and to do that we always tried to make products that is cheap to buy as India has a large chunk of population which lives below middle class. So we never concentrated on making products that has a sound technology because it costs a little higher. But we are moving ahead in the direction, the recent example I can see is of Micromax mobiles. They have started as normal Indian companies start with by entering the market that caters the mass population but now I see they are making some good mobiles. It will take time for them to take over from Samsung or Apple but I believe the company that made life for Nokia like hell in India can do it again.
Also till few years back everyone thought India is not a country to work because one we don’t have a glamorous life like countries of USA and Europe, also people are not getting paid what they deserve and trust me money has always played a part in taking talented people away from India. But now world is changing we’ve got everything here in India and people are coming back, USA and Europe no longer have the ability to attract people because f their financial situation in last few years. It will still take a decade or two to come near to these countries because we still lack in basic infrastructure and we are suffering with politics and corrupted politicians. Corruption is everywhere in the world but for a country where the population is 124cr; the large corruption is not helping.
I know we are going in the direction and next decade or two will see some of the Indian companies doing well at world stage.

Advice to students
Find out what you want from your life, I know it’s very tough to do but have a basic idea of what you want with your life, is what you are studying is helping you to achieve your dream, I know nowadays people go to college just to take degree so that they get a good job and later a good wife. That is perfectly fine, trust me I never knew why I did engineering or why I was doing MBA, It’s just people around me told me that these degrees will give you better opportunity in the real world. But find out what job makes you happy, there is always a company who fulfils your dreams, sometimes it take a little longer than you think but you have to find that, it won’t come to your door step you have to go out and look for it and once you find that give all your efforts to become best in what you do.
And sometimes we don’t exactly know what we want but then you have to try and find out during the course of your life. And trust me sometimes it will automatically give you feeling that I love this and I want to learn more and more about it, that’s the moment you were waiting for and now you have it, so work hard. Don’t get frustrated if it is taking longer to find out what you love to do but wait and do what you are doing till that time. This is what happened to me when I took HDFC job. I fell out of love with that job and I tried my luck with TCS and now I am loving what I do.
I remember a dialogue from the movie Lakshya, “Kuch bhi kaam karo usko achhi tarah karna jaroori hai, Ghaas katne wala bano lekin jab tak accha ghaas nahi kato koi fayda nahi, Scientist bano lekin accha ho to bat hai !!”
