Central electronics engineering research institute is a primer
research and development organization (CEERI) which works under
Council of scientific and industrial research (CSIR). It under
takes several research and development projects from different
sectors. One of such project is development of online surface
inspection for hot rolled steel strip, sponsored by Steel
Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Ranchi. The images of hot
rolled steel strips are captured and then processed with the help
of high speed Matrox image processing hardware and very advanced
Matrox Imaging Library software to find out the surface defects
in the steel strip. The task assigned was to develop a
threading program in MIL environment where one thread can be used
to capture images continuously and the other thread is used for
processing. Presently I am developing programs in VC++ to run
host code and in Code warrior to run on PowerPC.
