Could you tell us briefly about your family background?
Born in a flourishing business family in erstwhile Burma.Returned to India via Burma-Chittagong hilly border as pauper,in 1942 through Japanese bombing. Landed property appropriated by close relatives. Father died the same year.Quite a struggle for study.Brother forced to join service for support.
Role Model:
My world view was always eclectic. I read many biographies of many professions including religious reformists, like Vivekanda et al. I always tried to internalize any appealing idea; that remained my main characteristic. So, there is no single role model so to say.
Career Profile:
I retired as principal, Govt. Polytechnic, Hamirpur, H.P. I'm free to use my time as I like. I choose blogging on any topic that attracts my mind. While in job I was responsible for teaching as well as running the institution with attendant student problems, which are numerous nowadays.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
After retirement I'm not in touch with the changes that might have occurred during the intervening period.18 years is quite a gap. Lot of improvement might have occured. To comment on them without any basis will be a folly
Degrees That Matter:
There is some doubt in this regard: is it about my career now? Currently I'm interested in blogging only.Frankly speaking, I wanted to be a writer. My vocabulary and expression was best when I was in school. Now I struggle to improve. It needs only practice, no other special qualification.
Working Life Management:
Simple, attend the job at hand with playful seriousness without any stress. One job at a time. That doesn't exclude multi-tasking if needed. I believe in relaxing before fatigue sets in.Instant meditation is a great tool in this regard. I always remain fighing fit.
Job Profile:
Currently I'm not in any job. I'm not connected with any organization.I'm a free bird doing whatever I like to do at the moment.
Plans For The Future:
I want to see myself as an oldest man still writing.I had a published book titled "You too can become an Entrepreneur". I want to write a book with title "It's Time You Have a New Look at Old Age". I've already written 2 chapters. Can anybody help me?
Advice For New Professionals:
Professional world is too dynamic today. Without any requisite experience of my own it will be foolhardiness to advice the incumbent professional. Still, I would hazard to say one should be fully equipped to cope with the dynamic world.
The Decisions That Matter
I can't cite any momentous career decision I've ever made.I joined teaching profession out of my liking. Choose Himachal Pradesh for its beauty.
Done Differently:
During school days I was very good in writing both in English and Bengali. My head master, other teachers and well wishers advised me to go in for arts only. I went against their advice and opted for science.I realised my mistake but I don't repent. Now, I'll go in for literature.
The Journey So Far:
I lack Corporate World experience.
Required Reading:
Again, since my long disassociation with any profession I refrain from suggesting anything on this count.Even otherwise, the world had changed a lot probably.
Growth Strategy:
I believe in lifelong learning.I participated in 'IV World Conference In Contuining Engineering Education' at Lake Buena Vista, Orlando, USA in 1986. I am for continuing education in every field. A leader should be sure on the ground he stands and be responsive to the changing situations always
