Job Profile:
I am presently Asst.Vice President-Project Management fully responsible for EPC delivery of power plant projects which orders my Company secures -on competitive bidding.
Advice For New Professionals:
Dig deep inside yourself, discover your natural abilities and talent and work like crazy to polish them. Take-up a career aligned with your core nature, skills and passion. Aim for excellence in your area of work, rather than perfection. Never compromise on honesty, values and integrity - even once!
Prized Accomplishment(s):
I left a successful cosy Central Govt. job to follow a burning desire to become an Entrepreneur-when with wife and a 9 month old son. After a failed struggle of about 5 years and a pile of debt, I returned to a Job to put my only son through Sri Ram School(Top student) then Delhi University (Hans Raj College) and now into King's College, London.
Career Profile:
Presently, I am focussed on delivery of EPC power projects, which is 100% execution and leadership oriented. Earlier, as HOD-Mechanical I was responsible for only the engineering function (the "E" in the EPC) and associated man-management. The 1500Cr plus project (Balance-Of-Plant) that I have taken up on joining BGR Energy is almost 2years behind schedule and I have taken it as a challenge to catch-up and successfully complete the project.
Role Model:
Dr. E Sreedharan, Ex-Delhi Metro Chief, because of his personal integrity, simple lifestyle and commitment to successful project execution.
Other Thoughts:
My boarding school life at Montfort School, Yercaud, Tamilnadu (the Doon School of the South!) was excellent except for a handicap on account of a "stammering" problem - I just could not get the words out, when called to read! I fought to overcome this over many years and could finally overcome it!
Plans For The Future:
Short Term: Rise in the corporate ladder as a "Strategist" and CEO and in parallel- build-up my writing competencies. Long term: I still want to succeed as an Entrepreneur - to start my own 'product manufacturing Firm'.
The Decisions That Matter
I quit a successful job to start a Business and when it failed I knew it was time to close-shop and re-start my Job career. I left my second job because it was not paying enough and my third because I was naive in accepting a position far below my experience (and compensation) level.
