I joined Free Press, a regional English Daily, as a trainee Sub
Editor in 1995. Subsequently, I climbed up the ladder to become
Chief Sub Editor in 2004. As the Chief Sub, I was in charge of
the four-page Indore supplement with four Subs under me. The job
basically involved checking headings of the stories filed by the
reporters and edited by the subs, news placement, meeting the
page deadlines, and checking the miniatures before the final
print could be sent for plate making.
