Family Background
My father was a govt. servant and mother a homemaker. I am eldest of the 4 daughters and my father always envisaged me as the son he never had. He had lot of expectations from me and always pushed to achieve better and more. I was constantly striving to perform better so as to meet his expectations.
Done Differently:
If I had to start my career all over again, I would definitely like to change a few decisions I made earlier in my life. Perhaps get married little late, spend some time abroad on my own on a professional assignment for a longer duration, nurture and protect my professional interests more closely.
Job Profile:
I head the Global Pre-sales function TCS BaNCS Securities Processing - Custody product. I am responsible for spearheading the sales process from India for this product, providing technical and functional knowhow of the product with sales teams sitting world-wide.
The Decisions That Matter
My decision to travel abroad as per the demands of my job has widened my professional horizon and helped me rise in herarchy.I have struck to the same organization for last 20 years, there were distractions and attractive offers, however I decided to stay on. This has been instrumental in my growth.
Changes In The Professional Environment:
My organization has tremendously grown from teh time I joined. We were an organization of 7000 employees and now we are 200,000+. Environment is more professional and processes more streamlined now. HR policies are more employee friendly. I see more presence of women workforce too.
Career Profile:
In my current role, I am responsible for pre-sales, which involves meeting clients, conducting workshops, responding to RFPs. However in my previous role I was managing client accounts and was responsible for delivery and implementation of solutions.
Role Model:
As a child I was inspired by Kiran Bedi, her fearless nature and treating all an dsundry in an equal manner as a police personnes influenced me. Later on Indira Nooyi and Chanda Kochar inspired me to achieve greater heights.
The Journey So Far:
The journey in the Corporate world has been quite eventfull for me. I started as a technical IT programmer and then subseuently I moved into proram management and lead number client accounts in financial services. I worked on software products in capital markets and now lead the presales function.
Growth Strategy:
I continue to enhnace my people's and domain skills by interaction with other people, by attending trainings, conferences and reading. I also enhance an apply my skills in writing white papers in the area of financial services.
Plans For The Future:
I see myself leading one of the business unit doing business worth more than USD 150m.
Prized Accomplishment(s):
I am proud to have reached this milestone in my professional life wherin beginning with a humble start I am holding senior position in a large organization of more than 200,000 employees.
