Briefly tell me about your company and the HR strategies you have in place.
Our company is a leader in Ash Handling and Bulk Material Handling systems. As company we believe in having a long and trustworthy relationships with our employees. Our biggest strength has been our people and we aim to strengthen it further.
How do you describe the relationship of HR with the CEO’s?
A balancing act! Deliverables set in numbers but measured in abstract form!
What is your biggest pain point?
Dealing with exceptions. While making policies and processes we always consider how we can run smoothly in a most effective way but often in real times there are incidents which need to be handled exceptionally. The challenge is how to define an exception.
When you hire people what are you essentially looking for?
We look for people who
1)Can stay with the organization for atleast 4-5 years
2)Can work against odds and deal with challenges.
3)Are flexible and can adapt to change.
Workplaces are changing. Cultures are evolving. Do you think the average employee today is different from his/her counterpart from a decade ago too? What is lacking and what does he/she need to keep in mind in today’s working scenario?
Yes, the employees are different from their counterparts from a decade ago. Todays employee change jobs frequently than they should, but they are more professional and accept the changes in the organization more willingly, they have high expectations and have set high standards for themselves. They need to realize the importance of nascent stage of their career, which is more critical and is meant for learning and strengthening their foundation rather than just changing jobs with increase in number of years of experience which definitely gives them monetary benefits which may not be long.
What are your advice/ suggestions to fellow HRs in the industry?
To be generous honestly!
