My strongest skill
Before my mind, my heart starts thinking on the task at hand. I’m a thinker. I’m workaholic. At least, that’s what people say about me.
Degree that I recommend
Art or Creativity is a very relative subject. As far as getting a degree is concerned, there are a few prominent Art Colleges in Mumbai and other parts of our country where one can get his or her basics right. But the reality of our career is more than any certification or degree. What matters most is your interest, skill and attitude towards learning. It’s rightly said, “College produces artists, but not art directors”.
Qualities needed to become a successful leader
I strongly believe in this quote. “In the past a leader was a boss. Today's leaders must be partners with their people... they no longer can lead solely based on positional power.” Ken Blanchard.
Thoughts on Education system of our country
Children deserve education. Under the Indian Constitution, education is made a Fundamental Right. Local educational institutions play an important role in improving the literacy rate in that area. However, schools controlled by the government are not as organized as they are expected to be. They don’t meet the expected standards.Private/Public Schools are too expensive even for the service class to consider as an option, leave alone the economically weaker sections. Plus, they have a monopoly on their institution.
Teachers are the backbone of the educational system. It’s critical for any government to empower teachers so that they can help build a well-read nation.I guess the problem lies in the stark imbalance we have in our country. On one hand, there are villages where you don’t see a well-run school.Another hand, education has become a business in urban areas where there’s an illusion of world-class education and grooming being given to students. I think the key is to strike a balance.
Couple of years from now
Honestly, I don’t see it now where I will be, but yes, wherever I will be, I can see myself happy.
Ensuring success
I always keep my mind, eyes, and ears open. I make sure to keep myself updated with the changing trends in my field. The learning should never stop.
My role model
Life itself is so inspiring. I learn my lessons from life. If you ask about people, there are many whose principles leave an impact on me like Sachin Tendulkar have taught me dedication and modesty towards work. I have my reverences for Baba Amte as well, who devoted his entire life to several social causes and people unselfishly. I strongly believe that giving is achieving.
Important lesson learned
I believe, life itself is a big teacher. Life teaches you a lot. The most important lesson life has taught me is that, ‘bad times are not going to remain forever’. Never give up because life is like a roller-coaster. If you take it as an adventure, it will turn out to be great fun for you.
Brief description about me
As a child, I always wanted to become a cricketer. The desire sprouted in me after a few games with my school mate who grew to be an Indian Icon and ‘God of Cricket’ - Sachin Tendulkar. But life had other plans.
I ended up in the creative field. I dabbled in theater and films, before turning to Art Direction in Advertising. Over the years, I have worked with some of the top advertising agencies in India. Today, I am appointed as Creative Director (Art) & Head of Art (Delhi) at India’s fastest growing agency, Scarecrow Communications Ltd. After having won several awards as Best Writer, Best Art Director and Best Director at Performing Art of Theater, I was able to win a number of advertising awards as well. Ideas make me tick, I am an idea person.
My achievements
More than any awards, my biggest professional achievement is the appreciation for my work from the advertising legend Mr. Mohammed Khan. I was fortunate to work closely with him on a few campaigns. It was a proud moment when he addressed me as ‘Tiger’. I even got a pat on my back:)
Initiative to develop a country
As a professional, whatever you do, do it with hunger and dedication. Money and fame are bound to come if you take your passion seriously and work towards your goal. If you are earning enough, please pay your taxes and if you earn good fame please be an idol to others. I’m sure, if we can contribute this way, we can see our country in a good light.
Influenced by
My family, friends and many people, experiences that have influenced me. But I would particularly mention the common man of our country. Recently you saw a change in our country. We all have seen what happened in Delhi. Common man can do it, if he decides. We can change the system of this country. If we can think, we can do as well. Be the change.
