Could you tell us briefly about your family background?

I stay with my father in Navi Mumbai and I have a brother who is currently working and settled in USA.

Required Reading

Software Testing Foundations: A Study Guide for the Certified Tester Exam by Andreas Spillner. This a good book for people who are interested in ISTQB Foundation Level certification exam. The second book i would recommend is Key Performance Indicators by David Parmenter.

Essential Advice

The market in india for someone to start a carrer is a good option but be rest assured that there is lot of compeition around you and in a QA/Testing Domain in a team of 500 software developers you just need 10 -12 QA / Tester. As most of things are automated the job becomes even more challenging

The Journey So Far

I am basically from Commerce background and little knowledge that i gained from going to classes like Aptech and SSi. It was a difficult task to get into software industry because i was from commerce background.There was a passion which motivated me to pursue the Industry.

Current and Previous Responsibilities

Currently i am working as a Sr.Analyst in Finance / Tax Domain in one of the leading Oil and Gas Company in the world. The roles are totally different.

Most Important Decisions

I have made many important decision along my way:-
1st was working as a Software Programmer and not as an accountant in any company. Not running behind big salalries instead learn and then grow.
Worked in all the possible domains where i could get a chance. Never hestitated on trying.

Role Model

My role model is Lance Amrstrong. I read his book It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life. Its just amazing to see how he recovered and fought the cancer and the hard work that went behind in recovering from cancer and then winning the Tour De France.

Areas for the Future

Good knowledge of domain
Tools Knowledge - for automation and performance testers
Service-Oriented Architecture ('SOA') testing, Security testing placing more importance to SOA Testing are the areas of specialization within the QA/Testing that will matter most in future

A Fine Balance:

I personally make sure that i leave office by 7.00 - 7.30 in the evening and if need be work from home (rare situtation). Make sure that I attend only high pirority calls and the least onces can be addressed the next day. One has to draw a line to have a work life balalnce.

Currently working at

I am currently working as Sr. Analyst in Transfer Pricing profile. My job profile is understanding the business model of group companies. Preparing global and local Reports. Preparing planning Report / Benchmarking in relation to royalty, intellectual property. Advising on SCM and restructuring

Most Important Lessons

Always try to say 'NO' when you know that this work would not get completed on time or its not possible to meet the deadlines. I know its a Harsh word but we still need to comply with it no point is taking up assignment and struggling to complete it on time.
